Où est le marché ? (Where is the market?)
The collaborative platform for markets in France
Overview
Où est le marché ? ("where is the market?") is the collaborative platform to find markets in France: days, opening hours, products, food, organic, farmers', craft and flea markets, or Christmas markets. It is my main project, live and open to everyone (the site is in French).
The site brings together three audiences:
- residents find a market near them and add the ones that are missing;
- town halls take over the markets of their town and show them on their own website;
- market traders tell their customers where to find them every week.
Why this project
- The problem: information about markets is scattered across town websites that are hard to use and often out of date.
- The answer: one database, filled by the community then verified by town halls, with free tools that give professionals a reason to keep their information up to date.
- The goal: bring life back to town centers and showcase local producers and traders.
For residents
Search and geolocation
Markets around you, or by town, department, region, day or type (food, organic, farmers, crafts, flea markets, seasonal).
Collaborative
Anyone can add a market or fix opening hours. The community keeps the database growing.
Verified by the town hall
Town halls take over the markets of their town. A "Verified" badge reassures visitors.
For town halls and traders
Widget for town websites
One line of code on the town's website, markets always up to date, in the site's colors. A version without the credit is Premium.
The trader's weekly round
A free page showing where the trader will be this week. Customers find it with a simple scan.
Absences in one click
Traders tell their customers about an absence or something new. It shows on their page, on the market page and in the widget.
QR code poster
An A4 poster to print for the stall, linking to the trader's page.
Customizable Premium page
Premium traders build their page with sections (photo, gallery, highlight box, button), with a live preview.
Premium subscriptions
A Premium plan for town halls and traders, paid with Stripe.
Business model
The service is free for residents and funded by ads. Town halls and traders get a free account, and a Premium plan to go further: white-label widget, all the markets of the town, an enhanced trader page, featured listings.
Under the hood
- Blazor Server on .NET 10, MudBlazor for the UI, SQL Server and EF Core, with NetTopologySuite for geographic search.
- Embeddable widget: rendered outside the Blazor router (no SignalR), auto-resizing, options validated on the server, and a backlink inserted in the town's own page.
- Data enrichment with local AI: a console tool checks pending markets with SearXNG and Ollama. It searches the web for sources, extracts days and hours, checks every model answer (exact quote, days, hours) and only publishes the markets it can confirm.
- Companion mobile app in .NET MAUI (Android, Windows), using the site's API.
- Careful SEO: pages per town, department and region, dynamic metadata, structured data, sitemap.
